Gapminder는 원래 Trendalyzer software에서 개발되었으나 2007년 Google에 인수되었다. Google은 Gapminder의 기술을 이용해서 Motion Chart라는 visualization tool을 개발해서 제공하고 있다. 누구든지 Motion Chart를 이용하면 Google Spreadsheet의 데이터들을 bubble 모양의 scatter plot 그래프로 만들 수 있다. 컨설팅 회사에서나 만들 수 있었던 멋진 도표들을 누구든지 쉽게 만들 수 있게 된 것이다.
